Common questions
Everything a hotspot operator typically asks before signing up.
What does NetOS actually do?
NetOS is the platform WiFi hotspot operators run their business on. Vouchers, M-Pesa payments, your router, and customer messages — all in one place. You bring the router and the customers; NetOS handles the rest.
How do my customers pay?
M-Pesa first — STK push, or your own paybill or till. Pesapal and Flutterwave cover other mobile money and card options where you need them, and you can record cash payments too.
How do I sell WiFi vouchers?
Create a plan with a price and a time or data limit — an hour, a day, 500MB. A customer connects to your hotspot, lands on your branded portal, picks a voucher, and pays. You can also print voucher codes for customers who pay you in cash.
Do I need to know MikroTik configuration to set this up?
No. Point NetOS at your MikroTik and it generates the hotspot and PPPoE configuration for you, field by field. Most operators are connected in 10–15 minutes, and our team can pair with you on a call if you want help.
How do I know if my router is actually working?
NetOS checks whether your router has ever actually let a customer authenticate — not just whether you added it to your account. If something's wrong, you see it on your dashboard, not from a day of silent zero revenue.
Can a customer stay connected after their voucher runs out?
No. NetOS disconnects them automatically the moment their time or data runs out, and reconnects them automatically the moment they pay again. You never have to do either by hand.
Can I brand the captive portal with my logo and colors?
Yes. Configure → Branding controls the logo, colors, and copy your customers see when they connect.
Can I run more than one hotspot?
Yes. Each hotspot is its own tenant with its own customers, pricing, and branded portal, and you can add staff scoped to just the hotspot they work at. You see all your sites from one login.
What if a regular customer wants a permanent connection instead of a daily voucher?
Switch them to PPPoE — the same router, the same NetOS account. Billing, RADIUS authentication, and your dashboard stay the same; only their plan changes.
How will customers know when they've paid or are running low?
SMS and WhatsApp confirm payments and warn customers before they run out — sent automatically, not typed out by you.
Do I need a developer to run this?
No. Setup is built for an operator, not a developer: sign up, add a voucher plan, connect your router through the guided steps, and take your first M-Pesa payment.
What routers do you support?
MikroTik (RouterOS 6 and 7) with full hotspot and PPPoE provisioning. Other RADIUS-compatible routers work through standard RADIUS authentication.
Where does my data live?
Cloud: on our servers, encrypted, backed up regularly.
Self-hosted: on your own server, if you would rather run it yourself. Your data, your rules.
What does it cost?
See the pricing page. Plans are based on how many customers you have, not on which features you use — every plan includes vouchers, the captive portal, and every payment provider.
Where do I get help?
Email and WhatsApp — we read every message and answer the same day.
